At 18, Daniel Desta set out to find his future. Having decided to leave Devry University after just one semester, he packed his bags and left Columbus, Ohio in pursuit of bigger and better things. He knew there had to be something more in store for him. With the reluctant blessing of a family who didn’t always agree with his decision, but who knew he had to find himself, Daniel set out for California with nothing more than a book bag and a dream.
After settling in San Jose, California and getting his bearings, he began to focus on his future. One day he picked up a paper and saw an ad that caught his eye. The ad simply read, “Looking for Loan officers. No experience needed, will train and can earn $10,000 a month.” This was too good to pass up so Daniel immediately called and set up an interview. The interview was a bit more than Daniel expected. It was a group interview with 12 people in the room. Soon the President of the company walked in and stated simply that of the 12 people in that room only one or two would be successful. Daniel was determined to be one of those two and after two short months, Daniel was the only loan officer left standing.
Mastering home loans was just the beginning for Daniel and he soon moved on to new challenges. It was commercial loans that really piqued his interest, especially after many of his residential clients started to express an interest in commercial real estate. Seeing an opportunity, Daniel put his entrepreneurial spirit to work and founded Funding International Exchange, a company that provides privatized funding for major commercial developments.
Daniel’s guiding principle in all of his endeavors is “Where there is a will, there is always a way” and he doesn’t stop until the job is done correctly and the client is satisfied. After starting his firm he reached out to some of the wealthiest firms, people and families, offering them the chance to invest in various projects and promising them a healthy return on their investment. This networking paid off and clients soon came to realize that Daniel was operating with a new and unique business model. He had created a streamlined process of investing, making it easier for clients to make clear decisions.
With his success in helping clients invest wisely and see a return on those investments, Daniel turned his attention to helping entrepreneurs and small business owners. He was offered a partnership in the development of SBOOA.com (Small Business Owners Of America). Which is a full-scale business development organization that helps budding entrepreneurs raise the capital necessary for their success. This latest career move not only allows Daniel to work every day fulfilling his passion for entrepreneurism, but lets him share that passion with other young entrepreneurs in the process making a difference in their lives.
Wow he is certainly brave and ambitious. I guess that’s what success takes.
Well hello Mr. Desta! I love your blog and always look forward to new articles. Keep it up!

Nice – just checked out SBOOA.com – awesome site. So is this one. Keep up the great work!
My boyfriend has the same dreams and goals, but he’s never had the drive. I’m going to make him come here and read your bio
!
Well as the owner of a small business, I could definitely use your help
. Nice blog you’ve got here, Daniel. I look forward to reading your articles and advice.
This is a very inspiring story. Most of the successful people that we know, such as Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerburg, Bill Gates, and James Cameron, were all college drop outs and yet they succeeded in their crafts. Truly inspiring, indeed.
Hello, Mr. Desta! I’m a senior high school student. I don’t want to go to college because I just don’t see the point of a higher education. It will all be books and pens, and I’m not that kind of learner. I prefer to go out and learn from experience. Do you have any advice for me?
Good day! I came across this page by accident and when I started reading the article, I knew I just had to finish it. I surely am amazed! I wish all the best that life has to offer, and I’m sure your parents must be so proud of you.
“Daniel’s guiding principle in all of his endeavors is “Where there is a will, there is always a way…””– I couldn’t agree more! As long as you are determined to reach your dreams, then you can do everything. You are really amazing.
Wow! What kind of challenges did you experience? Because I remember my dad telling me that he used to sleep in a park before. He’s a businessman too and he had to run away from home because his parents do not support him.
You are lucky that you received a blessing from your parents to pursue your interests and dreams. I once asked my dad that I needed to quit medical school because I just couldn’t take the pressure. He forbid me. But anyway, I’m a doctor now and I learned to love my job.
One cannot underestimate the importance of education, but then again one cannot underestimate the value of experience and passion too. The people who didn’t finish school but succeeded most likely didn’t regret their choice.
“Daniel was determined to be one of those two and after two short months, Daniel was the only loan officer left standing.” — This just shows that with hard work and perseverance, you can get noticed and reach places. God bless you!
Entrepreneurs can be the most selfish but determined people in the world. It’s their negative but remeeding qualities at the same time. I admire you for your courage and your patience to reach your goals.
This is one of the best stories I’ve read in a long time. Business, in the grand scheme of things, is a lot like life. You have to gamble in order to reap benefits. And since it’s a gamble, you’re not assured that all will turn out well. But yours did. Amazing.
I have to say I’ve seen you come a long way & by you coming to San Jose working at Verizon then following your dreams just inspired me to follow mine.. I seriously thank God for having you in my life..Keep doing what you love..
Wow im soo proud of you Danny!! You are truly an inspiration and im glad that we are back in touch. Your mother must be really proud
